WINTER · SNOW COUNTRY
Winter days in a traditional Japanese home.
In winter, the house has a kotatsu: a low heated table covered with a quilt. It is a comfortable place to read or share tea after a walk through Yoita, when the weather allows.

Around 1,500 books are available to read during your stay, with a hammock, window seats and a kotatsu in winter.
Pick up seafood at Teradomari, or spend a day around Yahiko. Then come back and cook at home. The times below are typical driving times. Allow longer in snow, bad weather or fireworks traffic.

Before you plan a winter stay
Staying for more than one night. A second night gives you a full day without packing up. Direct-booking consecutive-night discounts are listed below.
Plan your arrival before setting off. NEMARU is not within walking distance of Nagaoka Station. Check winter transport and road conditions; if you are unsure about snowy roads, contact us about arriving by public transport and taxi. Check-in is 15:00–20:00.
About the property. NEMARU is a traditional house, not a ski resort or an onsen hotel. There is no hot-spring bath at the property, and snow cover changes with the weather.

Autumn foliage and seasonal food
Yahiko’s autumn foliage is about a 30-minute drive away. During your stay, enjoy new-harvest rice and seafood from Teradomari (about 20 minutes away), or use the garden BBQ in suitable weather. Grill rental is free for direct bookings, and 1,500 books are available in the house.

Yoita-Ko 170, Yoita-machi, Nagaoka, Niigata 940-2402. It is about 20 minutes by car to the Teradomari sea and fish market, and about 30 minutes to Yahiko Shrine and the Nagaoka Fireworks venue.
How many groups stay per day?
Just one group per day, the whole house to yourselves. You never share the space with other guests.
Can we cook or eat there?
Yes. There is a full kitchen for cooking and a garden BBQ. Many guests buy seafood in Teradomari and cook it at the house. A dinner option (by advance reservation) is also available.
Is it OK to bring children?
Yes. Because you have the whole house, families with children can relax freely. Co-sleeping for children of elementary age or younger is ¥1,100 per child.
Is it better to book direct or via an OTA?
Booking direct includes a free light breakfast set (local bread, Sado jam and coffee), a consecutive-night discount, a 'Machi to Hon' local coupon (¥300/person), a welcome drink, and free BBQ grill rental, plus flexible service such as adjusting guest numbers.
